Origin and its manufacturing partners have a solution for preparing and applying an IMO-certified fire-resistant coating to wood-based flooring products. This can be applied onsite and, due to its waterborne formulation, removes the issues associated with solvent-based products.

ORIGIN PURA-ONE HDE 51-x is a transparent 2K water-based polyurethane floor lacquer, mixed 10:1 with HYDRO Hardener HDR 71. It is particularly abrasion-resistant, tough-elastic and chemically resistant. More importantly, its applications extend from wooden stairs to “sealing of parquet in ship interiors”, and it is IMO certified.
Application Method.
For use as a flame-retardant coating on seagoing vessels.
2 × 100 g/m² wet film maximum
It must only be combined with other approved and technically suitable products when used under the applicable SOLAS/IMO requirements.
“For Parquet, Oak floor boards”
- Sand oak to 100 grit and dedust.
- Apply 100 g/m² PURA-ONE.
- Dry at least 2–3 hours at 20°C.
- Intermediate sand 120–150 grit.
- Apply another 100 g/m² PURA-ONE.
- Walkable after ≥8 hours.
- Fully resilient after ≥7 days.
This exactly matches the 2 × 100 g/m² marine limit.
There is also an optional route to R10 slip resistance by adding 10% Origin HZ 75 anti-slip additive to the final coat.
